Tom Kiely, Ph.D. (PSY29279) is a licensed clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist, and has been providing services for the past 15 years. He offers both neuropsychological assessment, and psychotherapy services, and looks forward to working with you to achieve your therapeutic or assessment needs.

With regard to assessment, Dr. Kiely’s clinical expertise covers a wide range of neurological, medical and psychiatric conditions including neurodegenerative disease and dementia, stroke, epilepsy, concussion, traumatic brain injury, cognitive rehabilitation, PTSD, and ADHD. He has obtained advanced clinical training at a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient psychiatry departments, in addition to outpatient epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and memory centers. Currently, Dr. Kiely is an attending clinical neuropsychologist at the University of California, San Francisco, within the Memory and Aging Center, Department of Neurology.

Regarding therapy, Dr. Kiely provides effective treatment to help individuals adapt and overcome obstacles so that they may experience the life they envision. With warmth and compassion, his style is engaging and goal-directed while simultaneously appreciating the natural cadence and pace of the session. He has obtained advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and has been practicing since 2001. He has focused his practice to primarily help those with anxiety disorders and depression, and has worked with both adults and adolescents (13 years & older) in a variety of settings across the continuum of care.

Dr. Kiely obtained a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in human development and psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He later acquired a master’s degree (M.A.) in counseling psychology from the College of Notre Dame, and was subsequently licensed as a marriage and family therapist. After 8 years of private practice and working in hospital settings, he obtained a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in clinical psychology, with an emphasis in neuropsychology, from Palo Alto University. He completed a clinical psychology internship at the Carl T. Hayden (Phoenix) Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Kiely later completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the Ray Dolby Brain Health Center, within the California Pacific Medical Center's Department of Neurosciences in San Francisco. 

Dr. Kiely dedicates and contributes time to leadership and governance in organizations with important missions. He has served on the board of Stanbridge Academy in San Mateo. He served as Secretary to the Board of Directors for the Northern California Neuropsychology Forum. Most recently, Dr. Kiely has been elected to be Co-President of Board of the San Mateo County Psychological Association.
